Winch services at your boat

Here is your chance to get those winches in proper working order. Do you realize that most winch manufacturers recommend that the winches should be serviced every six months! We think that may be a little excessive for a boat that does not often leave the dock. But we also think it is excessive when you let your winches go years without service. You definitely want to take care of your winches. Check out the price of replacing one. A model #40 Lewmar winch now sells for $1125.00 in the West Marine Catalog. Even a model #30 is $900.00. Protect your investment!

What we do

We will go to your boat and we totally break down the winches, each and every part comes off! Then we soak all the parts in a solution to clean them. Then we use a wire and bristle brush to get the caked-in crud out. Then we grease them, oil them, check for excessive wear, check pawl springs, and reassemble them. If they need any parts we will replace them. We carry a good assortment of parts for the job.

The price

The prices are as follows.... The labor for the first two winches is $89 (for the pair, total), each additional winch $40 each. This is for 2-speed winches up to about a Lewmar 44 in size. Single speed winches are $5 LESS per winch. Three speed winches (or very large two speeds) are $10 MORE per winch. If we use any parts they would be extra. Parts usually are minimal, unless the winch has a lot of wear. Grease, cleaner, oil etc usually is about two or three dollars per winch. The fine print... Prices quoted are for normal condition normal winches. If things need drilling out, you pay a little more. If the winches need to be removed to service (ie old Barients) you have to pay for the extra 30-40 minutes or so it takes to remove and re-innstall. However, 90% of the time the quoted price is good.
