Catalina owners or Universal Engine owners... Don't risk a fire! HAVE HORIZON MARINE INSTALL THE WIRING HARNESS UPGRADE!! Those of you who get Catalina Mainsheet Magazine may have already seen the article that we have reprinted at the end of the paget. They have changed the entire wiring harness plugs on the newer Catalinas. These are the 8 wires that go from the engine to the engine key panel. When the new style terminal strips are installed you will have a safer more reliable boat. We do the job right! We cut out both your old engine plugs on the wiring harness and replace them with the new style Terminal Blocks. We put a connector on 32 ends of wires. We re-route your charging wire so you have safer and faster charging. Usually almost a volt more charging power at the battery! We have the upgrade kits in stock and will go to your boat and install them for an all inclusive price of $150 plus tax if your boat has a voltmeter on it. If your boat has an ammeter we must replace it with a new style volt meter and that means an extra $45 ($195 total).

Reprint from Mainsheet Magazine.
[The following is a reprint from Mainsheet (Catalina's magazine)] Wiring Harness Upgrade Kit now available for Universal Diesels Catalina models with Universal diesel engines are now equipped with "A" type panels and engines The "A" type designation notes several important improvements from earlier Universal diesel engines and panels that improve reliability, safety and battery charging efficiency. Two important features of the "A" type panels can be retrofitted to the earlier boats with Universal diesels; the first is the replacement of the eight-prong connector plugs in the wire harness with terminal strips. This minimizes the possibility of electric shorts and improves reliability. The second is to re-route the charging circuit to improve charging efficiency. Catalina recommends all earlier Universal diesel-powered boats be upgraded using one of the kits available through Catalina's panel supplier.
