Most people choose either the traditional flooded (wet cell) battery or AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) style. The AGM style battery is becoming more popular each and every day. Five years ago they were 10% of our business, today they are over half. Which is right for you? The flooded battery is the choice for you if... Cost is an issue (they are less money.) If you can remember to add water every few months. If you have battery boxes. If you have an old charger. If you don't plan on sailing long distances in huge storms.

AGM batteries are sealed and require no battery boxes. They are much more money. They are your choice if... You want the best. If you are concerned about spilling acid. If you don't remember to top off your batteries. If you want the ability to turn them on their side or stand them up etc. (for room considerations). If you don't have or want battery boxes. FYI, We almost never see gel batteries any more. Most people have switched to AGM's.

We can also supply a sealed battery on sizes group 24 and group 27 for the same prices as above. These batteries do not ever require adding water. They are not quite as powerful as the wet ones we sell. But...., if you are lax at checking the water sometimes and might allow the battery plates to uncover, these might be perfect for you. Many of the qualities of an AGM at the price of a flooded battery!

PRICING FOR AGM BATTERIES is as follows. We usually use two brands of quality deep cycle batteries. The Lifeline AGM brand carries a 5 year warranty and is the most common high line AGM battery that is seen in boats  today.  They are priced as follows. . Group 24....$259.95 each. Group 27....$299.95 each. Group 31... $319.95 each. 4D size.  ....$569.95 each. 8D Size..  ..$669.95 each. 6-Volt T105 size (aka 2200)...$295.95 each   We also carry the Deka AGM brand which is the same battery that West Marine puts their private label on. These have a two year replacement warranty and are rated only about 5% less a/h than the above Lifelines.
